Business performance analytics is already in your licence

Microsoft is explicit about it: "Business performance analytics is included with Dynamics 365 Finance licenses. You don't need a separate Business performance analytics license." Most organisations on F&O own it and have never switched it on.

What you get

Prebuilt dimensional models — star schemas, modelled at the lowest grain — over three value chains:

| Value chain | Covers | Status | | --- | --- | --- | | Record to Report | General ledger, budgeting, financial dimensions | GA | | Procure to Pay | Requisitions, purchase orders, receipts, invoices, payments, accounts payable | GA | | Order to Cash | Sales orders, picking, invoices, payments, accounts receivable | GA, still incomplete |

Acquire to Dispose (fixed assets) has been GA since May 2026. Manufacturing models follow in September 2026.

What you do not get

Project operations. Warehouse and inventory. Logistics beyond the financial backbone of P2P and O2C.

And three hard limits: three years of history plus the current year, two refreshes per day, and Microsoft owns the ETL. You cannot tune it.

Why it is worth it

If you currently maintain hand-written transformations that model the general ledger, accounts payable or accounts receivable out of F&O, you are maintaining code that Microsoft keeps up to date for you at no cost. Through OneLake shortcuts the model enters your Fabric environment without a single pipeline.
